The flashlight utility on the iPhone is a surprisingly useful thing to have available to you when you need bright, directed light and don’t have access to an actual flashlight. Typically the flashlight is found by swiping up from the bottom of your iPhone’s screen to open the Control Center, then tapping the flashlight icon.
The iOS 11 update brought about some additional customization options for the Control Center, and it’s now possible for someone to delete the flashlight from that menu. If you were accustomed to having access to that flashlight and find that it is no longer available because someone accidentally removed it from your Control Center, then our tutorial below will show you how to add it back.
How to Add the Flashlight Back to the Control Center in iOS 11
The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 11.2.2. This guide assumes that the flashlight is not currently accessible on the Control Center when you swipe up from the bottom of your screen. The steps below will show you the menu where you can go to add the flashlight back to the Control Center so that you can use it.
Step 1: Open the Settings app.
Step 2: Select the Control Center option.
Step 3: Touch the Customize Controls button.
Step 4: Scroll down and tap the green + icon to the left of the Flashlight option.
Now when you swipe up from the bottom of your screen you will be able to tap the flashlight icon to turn on and turn off the flashlight.
When you add the flashlight back to the Control Center, it will likely be added after any other items that you have in the Control Center. This article will show you how to move Control Center objects if you would like to move the flashlight to a different location on that menu.
