The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 10.3.2. The setting that we are turning off controls the “clicking” sound that you hear when you lock or unlock your screen. Locking and unlocking the screen, if you are unfamiliar with the term, refers to turning the screen on or off.

Step 1: Open the Settings app.

Step 3: Scroll all the way to the bottom of the menu and tap the button to the right of Lock Sound to turn it off.

What is Lock Sound on iPhone 7?

The steps above explain how to disable the lock and unlock sound on the iPhone but, if you weren’t specifically looking to do this, and stumbled upon that setting while trying to change your ringtone, then you might find it confusing.

When you press the Power button on the side of your iPhone 7 to turn off the screen, there is a clicking sound that plays (assuming the device isn’t muted.) That same sound will also play when you press the Power button to turn the screen back on.
