Older iPhone 7 instructions often refer to a Restrictions menu under Settings > General. Apple replaced that system with Screen Time and Content & Privacy Restrictions in newer iOS versions, so the correct steps depend on the software installed on the phone.
Use Content & Privacy Restrictions on supported iOS versions
- Open Settings.
- Select Screen Time.
- Turn on Screen Time if it is not already configured.
- Open Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Enable the feature and review the controls for purchases, apps/features, content, privacy, and account changes.
- Set a Screen Time passcode when appropriate so the restrictions cannot be changed casually.
Choose restrictions individually
Do not disable broad categories unless that matches your goal. Screen Time can control app installation/deletion, purchases, web content, explicit media, privacy changes, and other features separately. Review each setting rather than assuming a single “Restrictions” switch provides the desired protection.
Remember the Screen Time passcode
The Screen Time passcode is separate from the iPhone unlock passcode unless you intentionally make them the same. Use Apple’s supported recovery process if it is forgotten; do not rely on third-party bypass tools.
The iPhone 7 is a legacy device
The iPhone 7 cannot run current iOS releases. Its available Screen Time controls and menu wording depend on the final compatible iOS version installed. Because it no longer receives current iOS security updates, avoid relying on an iPhone 7 for sensitive modern accounts when a supported device is available.
