On/Off Labels add visible “1” and “0” indicators to many iPhone switches so you do not have to rely only on color to tell whether a setting is enabled. This accessibility feature can be useful for people with color-vision differences or anyone who prefers an additional visual cue.
Enable On/Off Labels
- Open Settings.
- Select General.
- Open Accessibility.
- Find On/Off Labels.
- Turn the setting on.
On an iPhone 7 running a later compatible iOS version, Apple may place the feature under Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size instead. The menu location depends on the installed software.
What the labels mean
When supported switches are enabled, a “1” mark appears as an additional indication of the on state and a “0” mark indicates off. The feature changes the appearance of switches; it does not change what those settings do.
Combine it with other display accessibility options
If interface controls remain difficult to distinguish, review Increase Contrast, Differentiate Without Color, Bold Text, text size, and other visual accessibility settings available on the installed iOS version. Change one setting at a time so you can judge whether it helps.
Turn the labels off at any time
Return to the same accessibility setting and disable On/Off Labels. Your individual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, privacy, notification, and other switch states are not reset when you hide the labels.
The iPhone 7 cannot run current iOS releases and no longer receives current iOS security updates. The feature still works on compatible legacy software, but newer iPhones may show different menus and provide additional accessibility controls.
