The fastest way to turn on Bluetooth on a Mac without a mouse is to ask Siri: press and hold Command + Space (or say “Hey Siri” if it’s enabled) and say “Turn on Bluetooth.” You can also use only the keyboard: press Command + Space to open Spotlight, type Bluetooth, press Return to open Bluetooth settings, then press Tab until the Bluetooth switch is highlighted and press Space. Method 1: Use Siri

Siri confirms when Bluetooth is on. Your Bluetooth mouse or trackpad should reconnect within a few seconds if it’s charged and switched on. If Siri isn’t enabled on your Mac, use Method 2.
Method 2: Use Spotlight and the keyboard
- Press Command + Space to open Spotlight.
- Type Bluetooth.
- Use the arrow keys to select the Bluetooth settings result and press Return.
- Press Tab repeatedly until the Bluetooth on/off switch is highlighted with a blue outline.
- Press Space to turn it on.

If your Bluetooth mouse still doesn’t connect
- Charge it. Apple’s Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad need power; connect them to the charging cable for a few minutes.
- Switch it off and on. Use the power switch on the bottom of the mouse, and watch for the green light.
- Remove and re-pair. In Bluetooth settings, select the device, choose Forget This Device, then pair it again.
- Restart the Mac. A restart often clears Bluetooth glitches.
- Check for interference. USB 3 hubs, Wi-Fi routers, and metal desks can weaken the signal. Move closer to the Mac.
Prevent this from happening again
Keep a cheap USB mouse in your desk drawer as a backup, and leave Siri turned on so you can control Bluetooth by voice. On laptops, the built-in trackpad and keyboard always work regardless of Bluetooth, so this mostly affects desktop Macs and laptops used with the lid closed.
