Netflix lets you download supported movies and episodes to an iPhone for offline viewing. Removing a download frees local storage on the iPhone but does not remove the title from Netflix, cancel your subscription, or erase your viewing history.
Delete one Netflix download
- Open the Netflix app.
- Open the downloads area in the current app interface.
- Find the downloaded movie or series.
- Open its download options or swipe/select the item as provided by the app.
- Choose Delete Download or the equivalent removal command.
Delete all downloads when you need more space
Netflix settings can provide a Delete All Downloads option. Use it only when you are sure you no longer need any offline titles, particularly before travel where Wi-Fi or cellular service may be unavailable.
Smart Downloads can add or remove episodes automatically
Netflix features such as downloading the next episode or Downloads for You can manage offline content automatically when enabled. Review download settings if deleted content seems to return or storage usage grows again.
Deleting the Netflix app removes local downloads too
Do not uninstall Netflix merely to remove one movie. App deletion removes local app data and downloaded titles, and you will need to reinstall and sign in again.
Check iPhone storage if space is still low
Open Settings > General > iPhone Storage to see which apps consume the most space. Photos, videos, podcasts, music, messages, and other streaming apps may use more storage than Netflix.
The Netflix interface changes regularly, so an iPhone 11 running a current app version may not match older screenshots. Look for the app’s current Downloads/My Netflix controls rather than relying on the original navigation labels.
