Google Calendar doesn’t have an official Windows app, but you can add it to your Windows 11 desktop in a minute. Open calendar.google.com in Chrome, click the three-dot menu, and choose Cast, save, and share > Install page as app. Google Calendar then opens in its own window, with its own icon in the Start menu and on the taskbar. In Microsoft Edge, use Apps > Install this site as an app. You can also add your Google account to the Outlook app to see your Google events alongside other calendars.
Method 1: Install Google Calendar as an app with Chrome
- Open Chrome and go to calendar.google.com. Sign in if needed.
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Choose Cast, save, and share > Install page as app. (In older versions, it’s More tools > Create shortcut with Open as window checked.)
- Name it Google Calendar and click Install.

To add a desktop icon too, open Start > All, find Google Calendar, and drag it onto the desktop. Right-click the open app on the taskbar and choose Pin to taskbar to keep it there.
Method 2: Install it with Microsoft Edge
- Open calendar.google.com in Edge.
- Click the three-dot menu > Apps > Install this site as an app.
- Click Install. Choose whether to pin it to the taskbar, Start, or desktop, and whether it starts when you sign in.
Method 3: Add Google Calendar to Outlook
- Open the Outlook app (the new Outlook for Windows replaced the old Calendar app).
- Click Settings (gear) > Accounts > Add account.
- Enter your Gmail address and follow the Google sign-in steps.
- Open the Calendar view to see your Google events.
Changes you make in Outlook sync with Google Calendar, and vice versa.
Get notifications on your desktop
In Google Calendar, click the gear > Settings > Notification settings and choose Desktop notifications. When your browser asks, allow notifications. Make sure notifications are allowed for Chrome or Edge in Windows Settings > System > Notifications.
To control how early reminders pop up on your desktop, change the default notification time in Google Calendar.
You can make desktop shortcuts for other sites and files too; see how to create a shortcut on Windows 11.
