To import questions into Google Forms from another form, open your form, click the Import questions button in the floating toolbar (the icon with an arrow pointing into a box), choose the form that has the questions, select the questions you want, and click Import questions. They’re added to your current form, ready to edit.
Google Forms can’t import directly from a Google Doc, Word file, or spreadsheet. For those, copy and paste or use an add-on, as described below.
Quick Answer
In the form, click Import questions in the side toolbar > pick a form > Select > check questions > Import questions.
Import Questions From Another Google Form
- Open the form you want to add questions to.
- Click the question or section where the new questions should go.
- In the floating toolbar on the right, click Import questions.
- Choose the source form from your Drive and click Select.
- In the panel on the right, check the questions you want, or Select all.
- Click Import questions.

Imported questions keep their type, options, and required setting. In quizzes, answer keys and point values usually carry over too; check them before sharing.
Other Ways to Get Questions Into a Form
| Source | Method |
|---|---|
| Another Google Form | Import questions (built in) |
| A whole form you want to reuse | Make a copy of the form (three-dot menu > Make a copy) |
| Google Doc or Word document | Copy each question and paste into a question title; paste options one per line |
| Google Sheets list | A Forms add-on from the Workspace Marketplace, or Apps Script |
| Many questions from a document | A Forms add-on that converts Docs or Sheets to questions |
When you paste a list of answer choices into an option field, Google Forms can split each line into its own option, which saves time.
To share results in a presentation, link a sheet into Google Slides.
To reuse results in a report, see copying a chart from Google Forms to Word.
Troubleshooting
- The source form isn’t listed: You need at least view access to it in your Drive. Ask the owner to share it or make a copy.
- Images or sections didn’t come across as expected: Check each imported item; you may need to re-add images or section breaks.
- Import questions button is missing: Click a question first so the toolbar appears, and make sure you have edit access.
Once your form is ready, set up email notifications for new responses.
