You can’t wipe your entire Facebook activity log with one button, but you can delete most of what’s in it. Open Facebook, go to your profile, tap the three dots (⋯), and choose Activity log (it’s also under Settings & privacy > Activity log or Your activity). Tap Manage activity or a category such as Your posts, check All or select individual items, and tap Trash. Deleted items stay in Trash for 30 days before they’re permanently removed. Clear your search history separately under Search history > Clear searches.

What’s in the activity log
- Your posts, photos, videos, and check-ins

Only you can see your activity log, but the posts and comments listed in it may be visible to others depending on their privacy settings.
Delete posts in bulk
- Open Activity log.
- Tap Your activity across Facebook or Manage activity > Your posts.
- Use Filters to narrow by category or date if you like.
- Check All (or select specific posts).
- Tap Trash and confirm. Or tap Archive to hide posts from others while keeping them for yourself.
Delete comments and reactions
- In Activity log, tap Interactions or Comments (or Reactions).
- Select items and tap Delete or Remove. Reactions are removed rather than trashed.
Clear search history
- In Activity log, tap Search history (under Logged actions and other activity in some versions).
- Tap Clear searches and confirm.
Remove tags
You can’t delete other people’s posts, but in Activity log > Photos and videos you’re tagged in (or Posts you’re tagged in), select items and choose Remove tags. The posts stay on the other person’s profile without your name.
Empty the Trash
Go to Activity log > Trash. Items are deleted automatically after 30 days, or you can select them and tap Delete to remove them right away. Items in Trash can be restored within 30 days.
Other ways to limit old activity
- Limit past posts – Settings & privacy > Settings > Audience and visibility > Posts > Limit who can see past posts changes all old public posts to Friends.
- Off-Facebook activity – in Accounts Center > Your information and permissions, review and disconnect activity that businesses shared with Meta.
- Download your information – save a copy before deleting, via Accounts Center > Your information and permissions > Download your information.
What you can’t delete from the log
- Some account history, such as profile changes and certain logged actions, may stay listed.
- Messages are managed in Messenger, not the activity log.
- Deleting your whole account is the only way to remove everything, and it’s permanent after the grace period.

Can I delete years of Facebook posts at once?
Yes, use Manage activity with a date filter and select All. Very large histories may need to be done in several batches.
Does deleting activity remove it from Meta’s servers?
Meta says deleted content is removed from its systems over time, though backups and legal requirements can delay full deletion.
Will friends be notified when I delete posts?
No. Deleting or archiving doesn’t send notifications.
