Your Google Voice number is listed in Google Voice settings under Account. On a computer, go to voice.google.com, click the Settings gear at the top right, and look under Account. In the Android or iPhone app, tap the Menu icon at the top left, tap Settings, and the number appears under Account.
If there’s no number there, Google Voice isn’t set up on the Google Account you’re signed in to. That usually means you’re in the wrong account, your number was removed after a long period of inactivity, or (for work and school accounts) your administrator hasn’t assigned you one yet. What You Need to Know First
These steps follow Google Voice Help as of September 2026. Google updates the Voice app and website regularly, so icons and labels can look slightly different on your device.
- The right Google Account. A Google Voice number belongs to one Google Account. If you have several Gmail addresses, the number only shows up when you’re signed in to the one you set Voice up with.
- A personal or a work account. Free personal Google Voice and the single-user paid plans are available only in the US. Work and school accounts get Voice through Google Workspace, and an administrator assigns the number.
- The Google Voice app (optional). On a phone, you need the Google Voice app from the Play Store or App Store. On a computer, any modern browser works.
One term to know up front: a linked number is an existing phone number (like your mobile) that you connect to Google Voice so calls can ring through to it. It is not your Google Voice number. People often confuse the two, and there’s a section on that below.
Find Your Google Voice Number on a Computer
The web version is the quickest place to check, because you can switch between Google Accounts easily.
- Open a browser and go to voice.google.com.
- Sign in with your Google Account. If you’re already signed in, check the profile picture at the top right to confirm it’s the right account.
- At the top right, click the Settings gear icon. Expected result: The Settings page opens with sections listed on the left.
- Look under the Account section. Expected result: Your Google Voice number is displayed at the top of this section.
- If you need to share it, select the number and copy it, or write it down with the area code.
If the page asks you to choose a number instead of showing one, Voice isn’t set up on this account. Don’t pick a new number yet if you think you already have one. Check your other accounts first (see Troubleshooting). Google’s own steps are in Google Voice Help: find your Voice number.
Find Your Google Voice Number on Android
- Open the Voice app.
- Tap the Menu icon at the top left.
- Tap Settings. Expected result: The Settings screen opens.
- Look under Account. Your Voice number is listed there.
If nothing appears under Account, the app says Voice isn’t set up for this Google Account. You can switch to another account in the app, tap Get a Google Voice number to set one up on a personal account, or contact your administrator if it’s a work or school account.
Find Your Google Voice Number on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Voice app.
- Tap the Menu icon at the top left.
- Tap Settings.
- Look under Account. Your Google Voice number appears there.
The iPhone and iPad app works the same way as the Android app. If no number is listed, sign in to a different Google Account in the app or set up Voice on this one.
Google Voice Number vs. Linked Numbers
Your Google Voice number is the virtual number people call or text you on. Your linked numbers are the regular phones that Google Voice forwards those calls to. Knowing your mobile number is linked does not tell you what your Voice number is; you still need to check Account in Settings.

Add or check a linked number on a computer
- At voice.google.com, click Settings.
- Under Account, click Linked numbers to see what’s linked.
- To add one, click New linked number and enter the phone number.
- For a mobile phone, click Send code and enter the code from the text. For a landline, click Verify by phone, then Call, and enter the code you hear.
- Click Verify. Expected result: The number appears in your linked numbers list.
A number that’s already linked to a different Google Voice account can’t be linked to a second one. Details are in Google’s guide to linked numbers.
Work and School (Google Workspace) Accounts
If you use Google Voice through your job or school, the steps to view your number are the same: open Settings and look under Account. The difference is where the number comes from.
- An administrator with the Google Voice Admin role assigns Voice licenses and numbers in the Google Admin console (Apps, then Google Workspace, then Google Voice, then Users).
- A newly assigned number can take up to 48 hours to become active.
- Your Voice settings may say the account is managed by your Google Workspace administrator. In that case, you can’t pick, delete or reclaim the number yourself.
- If you can’t see a number, ask your IT team to confirm you have a Voice license and an assigned number.
Admins can reclaim a released Workspace number for at least 30 days, but numbers that were ported in from another carrier can’t be reclaimed once released.
If Your Number Was Removed or Deleted
Google can take back a personal Voice number that hasn’t been used for a long time. Before that happens, Google sends a warning that includes the reclaim date. To keep your number, do any of these before that date:
- Make a call.
- Send a text message from your Voice number.
- Listen to your voicemail.
Get back a number removed for inactivity
After a number is removed, you have 45 days to get it back. Your messages stay in your account, but you won’t get calls or texts until you reclaim it.
- On a computer, go to voice.google.com and sign in.
- Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy if asked.
- Search by city or area code for your old number.
- Next to your number, click Select and follow the instructions.

Get back a number you deleted
If you deleted your number yourself, the window is longer: 90 days. Go to Settings, then Account, choose Get a number when prompted, and click Reclaim. Before deleting a number, be sure you really want to, because anyone who only has that number won’t be able to reach you. Google explains both options in Delete your Google Voice number.
Adding a new linked number does not restore a lost Voice number. Linking only sets up call forwarding.

Troubleshooting
No number appears under Account
You’re most likely signed in to a different Google Account. Click your profile picture, switch accounts, and check Settings again in each one. If none show a number, it may have been removed for inactivity; follow the reclaim steps above while you’re still inside the 45-day window.
I only know the phone number I linked
Sign in to voice.google.com with each Google Account you own and look under Linked numbers. When you find your mobile number listed, the Voice number in the same account’s Account section is the one you’re looking for.
The app asks me to choose a new number
That means this account has no Voice number. If you expected one, stop and check your other accounts before choosing, because selecting a new number won’t bring the old one back.
My work account shows no number
Your administrator hasn’t assigned one, or it’s still activating (up to 48 hours). Contact your IT team.
Texts or calls to my number aren’t arriving
