The weather information on the Windows 11 taskbar is provided through Widgets. You can hide the Widgets taskbar button if you do not want weather displayed there; this does not uninstall the Weather app or prevent you from checking forecasts elsewhere.
Remove weather/Widgets from the taskbar
- Right-click an empty area of the taskbar.
- Select Taskbar settings.
- Find Widgets under Taskbar items.
- Turn Widgets off.
The weather icon or weather text should disappear from the taskbar. You can return to the same setting later and turn Widgets back on.
If you want Widgets but not weather content
Microsoft has changed the Widgets experience across Windows 11 updates. Open the Widgets board and review its current feed, interests, and widget controls. Depending on the installed version, you may be able to customize the board without removing the taskbar entry entirely.
Do not use registry edits for a simple taskbar preference
Windows provides a supported Taskbar settings switch for Widgets. Registry hacks and “debloat” utilities can become obsolete after Windows updates and may disable more than the weather display.
Managed PCs can behave differently
Organizations can configure Widgets through policy. If the control is unavailable or repeatedly returns to an enforced state on a work or school computer, contact the administrator rather than attempting to bypass management.
If the weather itself is incorrect, hiding Widgets only removes the display. Check Windows location permission, regional settings, network access, and the weather service’s selected location if your actual goal is to correct the forecast.
