Windows 11’s modern context menu hides some legacy commands behind Show more options. Windows does not provide a simple supported Settings switch that permanently replaces the modern menu with the old one everywhere.
Steps
- Right-click a file, folder, or desktop area.
- Choose Show more options when the command you need is not visible.
- Alternatively, press Shift+F10 for the classic-style context menu in many locations.
- Check whether the application you use has been updated to integrate its command into the modern Windows 11 menu.
- Keep Windows and the relevant application updated.
- Avoid registry scripts that promise to force the legacy menu unless you understand that they are unsupported tweaks and can break after Windows updates.

The modern menu is intentional
Windows 11 reorganized common commands and changed how third-party shell extensions integrate. Show more options remains a compatibility path for older extensions.

Update the application first
A current version of a file utility, compression tool, security product, or editor may place its command directly in the new context menu, eliminating the need to open the legacy menu.
