To pin a website to the taskbar in Windows 11, open the site in Microsoft Edge, select the three-dot menu, and choose More tools > Pin to taskbar. In Google Chrome, open the three-dot menu, choose Cast, save, and share, select Create shortcut (or Install page as app), and then pin the new shortcut from the taskbar. Either way, the site gets its own taskbar icon that opens it with one click.
Method 1: Pin a website with Microsoft Edge
- Open the website in Edge.
- Select the three-dot menu (Settings and more) in the top-right corner.
- Choose More tools, then Pin to taskbar.
- Rename the shortcut if you like, then select Pin.
Some sites also support Apps > Install this site as an app in the same menu. The installed app opens in its own window without tabs or an address bar, and Windows offers to pin it to the taskbar and Start.
Method 2: Pin a website with Google Chrome
- Open the website in Chrome.
- Select the three-dot menu and choose Cast, save, and share.
- Choose Create shortcut. Check Open as window if you want the site in its own window, then select Create. (If the site offers it, Install page as app does the same with app-style features.)
- The site opens or appears on your desktop and in the Start menu. While it’s open, right-click its icon on the taskbar and choose Pin to taskbar. You can also right-click the new Start menu entry and choose Pin to taskbar.
Chrome’s menu names change from time to time; if you don’t see these options, look under Save and share or More tools.
What about Firefox?
Firefox doesn’t have a built-in “pin site to taskbar” option. You can drag the padlock icon from the address bar to the desktop to make a shortcut, but Windows won’t pin that type of shortcut directly. Using Edge or Chrome for the pinned site is the simplest workaround.
Pin a website to the Start menu instead
In Edge, open the three-dot menu and choose More tools > Pin to Start. For sites installed as apps from Edge or Chrome, right-click the app in the Start menu and choose Pin to Start.
Remove or change a pinned website
- Unpin: right-click the icon on the taskbar and choose Unpin from taskbar.
- Uninstall a site app: go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find it, and choose Uninstall, or remove it from
edge://appsorchrome://apps. - Reorder icons: drag pinned icons left or right on the taskbar.
