Uninstalling Microsoft 365 from Windows 11 removes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the other desktop apps from that PC. It does not cancel your subscription or delete files stored in OneDrive. Check Which Type of Office You Have
Microsoft’s uninstall instructions depend on how Office was installed. To check, open Word or Excel, choose File > Account (or Office Account), and click About under Product information:

Use Microsoft’s Uninstall Troubleshooter
If Settings fails or leaves pieces behind, Microsoft provides an uninstall troubleshooter for Microsoft 365, Office 2024, 2021, 2019 and 2016. Start it from the Uninstall button on Microsoft’s “Uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office from a PC” support page. If your browser asks whether to open Get Help, choose Open, follow the prompts, and restart the PC when asked.

- Confirm, wait for the removal to finish, and restart.
Before You Uninstall
- Your files stay put. Microsoft notes that uninstalling removes the apps only, not documents or workbooks you created.
- Let OneDrive finish syncing if you save files there, so nothing is left only on this PC.
- Outlook data: email in Microsoft 365, Outlook.com or Exchange stays on the server. Local .pst data files stay on the drive, so note their location if you plan to reinstall.
- One-time purchases: make sure the licence is linked to your Microsoft account, or keep the product key, so you can reinstall later.
Cancel the Subscription Separately
