How to Make a Picture Black and White on an iPhone 6

Social media apps like Instagram offer their users assorted filters that can add some character or style to normal pictures that you take with your iPhone’s camera. But the ability to use these filters is not limited to those apps, and your iPhone is capable of applying filters directly to your pictures using only the default apps that are installed on your device.

Our tutorial below will show you how you can edit your pictures in this manner by applying a Mono filter to your pictures so that they appear to have been taken in black and white. You can also take a look at the other filters offered via the Edit menu in your Photos app.

The steps below will show you how to apply a filter to a picture in your Camera Roll so that it is black and white. You can also apply this filter through your Camera while you are taking the picture, but note that this filter will remain applied until you go back and turn it off. If you would prefer to apply the filter through the Camera instead of through the Photos app, then simply open the Camera, tap the Filter icon, then select the Mono option.
