How to Change Government Alerts in iOS 9

Notifications on your iPhone can come in a number of different forms, including sounds, alerts, banners, or badges. The notifications are customizable for almost every individual app. One specific notification that can really surprise you, however, is the notification that occurs when there is an AMBER alert or an Emergency alert near your current location.

These alerts can be particularly jarring when they occur in a location where a lot of people have iPhones, as they all tend to go off at the same time. Your iPhone has settings for these government alerts, and you can adjust them to be either on or off, based on your own personal preferences. Our guide below will show you where to find this setting.
